LEGACY DAY

Connection. reflection. gratitude.

Legacy Day is an invite-only, annual event that offers a time to connect as a community, foster strength in our mission, and gather in reflection and gratitude for the service and sacrifice of our nation’s service members and veterans.

A CALL TO REMEMBER

At Legacy Day 2024, attendees had the honor of hearing these impactful remarks from Command Sergeant Major Patrick McCauley. CSM McCauley is a distinguished Army Special Operations veteran, with a career spent leading some of the nation’s most elite military units in complex combat environments, Patrick’s words carry the weight of experience and deep respect. Having culminated his service as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader of U.S. Special Operations Command—representing 75,000 personnel—Patrick now brings his strategic insight to both the private sector and to the WQW Board of Directors. From Iraq and Afghanistan to Bosnia and Africa, his reflections are grounded in lived experience and enduring commitment to those who serve.

THE MEMORIAL GARDEN CEREMONY

Legacy Day hosts the Memorial Garden Ceremony in the Jean Hastings Memorial Garden at Quiet Waters Ranch. This garden was built in honor of WQW’s first donor and founding volunteer “Mom”, Jean Hastings. It exists to provide Warriors and their loved ones with a beautiful, serene environment where they can reflect and connect during their programs.

During the Memorial Garden Ceremony, guests are welcomed with the presentation of colors and the national anthem, followed by keynote remarks and the dedication of new pavers being placed in the garden. The ceremony closes with the placement a remembrance wreath, a moment of silence, and taps to honor our fallen heroes.
