Sven began his military journey in the U.S. Army in 1988 at Fort Hood, Texas, with the 1-3 Field Artillery B-Btry. In 1991, he deployed to Operation Desert Storm/Shield with the Tiger Brigade, 2nd Armor Division, attached to the 2nd Marine Division. After a tour in Germany, he later became an ROTC instructor at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse before transitioning to the Army Reserve. After 9/11, he joined the U.S. Navy as a Master-at-Arms, deploying to Guantanamo Bay and serving with the Navy Security Detachment GTMO. After his tour, he served with the Navy Expeditionary Security Squadron, conducting detainee operations and global security missions in Iraq, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, the Philippines, and other strategic locations worldwide. His final assignment was as the Active-Duty Chief of an all-Reserve unit in St. Louis.
Following his military retirement in 2012, Sven continued his commitment to public safety with roles at the Saint Charles County Jail as a Jailer, with Homeland Security, and with the FBI as an Operations Support Technician. Since joining the Wentzville School District, he has brought military-grade discipline, leadership, and a sense of mission to student transportation.
Sven and his wife, Jennifer, live in Wentzville, Missouri, where they remain active in the military veteran community. When not serving others, they enjoy fly fishing, hiking, and exploring the world together.
